Born in Zahl? Lebanon, Chawky Frenn moved to the United States in 1981. He graduated with a BFA from Massachusetts College of Art and Design in 1985 and earned his MFA from the Tyler School of Art of Temple University in 1988. Frenn has taught at Bridgewater State College, Monsterrat College of Art, Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, and is currently an associate professor of art at George Mason University. His is also the author of 100 Boston Painters, published by Schiffer Publishing.Frenn? work?oted for its attention to the human figure and its spiritual, questioning quality?as been shown in galleries and museums across the United States and abroad in France, Germany, Italy, Lebanon, and Paraguay.Frenn? various honors include the Blanche E. Colman Award from Mellon Trust in Boston in 1998 and the Teaching Excellence Award from George Mason University in 2009.
