Mr. Owliver loves his job as night watchman for the Animaltown Art Museum, partly because he? an owl and is up at night anyway, but mostly because he? proud to protect such beautiful works of art. His friends think he must be lonely, but he has the company of all the subjects in the paintings. One in particular, the lovely Ms. Wren in Auguste Wrenoir? The Loge, is his favorite. One night on his birthday he has a feeling things aren? as they should be. That? when he makes a startling discovery that begins a night full of surprises. This is definitely a birthday Mr. Owliver will never forget! This book is designed to introduce children to some famous masterpieces while entertaining the adult reader with visual puns.
Carolyn Bracken has spent her lifetime, except for a brief stab at show biz, illustrating books for children. She started out drawing humorous cards for a greeting card company before breaking into publishing at Golden Books and beginning her long freelance career. Bracken has illustrated over 300 books, from ABC? and Mother Goose to such licensed characters as Magic Schoolbus, Fancy Nancy, Clifford, and Eloise. Her favorite things to draw are animals with clothes on, so, with that in mind, she wrote Mr. Owliver, the first book she has both written and illustrated. She lives in the Oregon wine country with her husband Henry and cat Puggers.
