Katherine Kreider is a recognized authority and visionary in the preservation of "The Valentine." Her first book, Valentines With Values, was just the beginning of documenting "The Valentine." Kreider's second book, One Hundred Years of Valentines, continues her quest to put on paper and in photographic essay the many series, artists, and art forms behind the Valentine. She has collected for the last 25 years. Kreider's motto is "Save the Valentine!"
Kreider's efforts have been showcased in publications such as: The Wall Street Journal, The San Francisco Examiner, The Antique Journal, Inside Antiques, Antiques Today, Renningers Newspaper, Courier-Post, Auction News, and so on. Kreider has also made appearances on Joaquin Bowman's WBUX Radio Show, What's New in Antiques, Bucks County, Pennsylvania; The Ray Mansfield television show, Let's Talk Antiques, Linwood, New Jersey; Morgan Wright's Art Workshop, radio show from Boston, Massachusetts; Bloomingdale's showcase and book signing, etc.
Kreider has also written for numerous national publications, such as: Collector's Showcase, Paper Pile Quaterly, Barrs Postcard News, etc. She is the valentine advisor for Schroeder's Antique Price Guide, The Flea Market Trader, and The Garage Sale & Flea Market Trader. She has lectured and exhibited portions of The Kreider Collection from the West Coast to the East Coast, from the oldest women's club west of the Mississippi, The California Women's Club, San Francisco, and The Oakdale Museum, Oakdale, California to Borders Bookstore, Lancaster, Pennsylvania; The Baron Steigel Club, Pennsylvania; The Renfrew Museum, Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, just to name a few.
Katherine and her husband, David, own and operate, Kingsbury Antiques, in Adamstown, Pennsylvania, located within the Stoudtburg Antique Center (better known as Black Angus), Booth #315; open every Sunday through out the year. Kingsbury Antiques has the largest offerings of antique valentines for sale in the United States. Kingsbury Antiques exhibits twice a year at the Atlantique City Antique Show, Atlantic City, New Jersey, and has a flourishing mail order business.
Katherine and her husband are both members of The Ephemera Society of America, Inc. Kreider lives the valentine experience every day of her life! This gives her first-hand knowledge of the market place, market trends, and market values nationally. So when One Hundred Years of Valentines was compiled, it was done with 25 years of experience in the buying, collecting, documenting, and selling of valentines. Originally, it was a hobby, but now it is her true passion to take the documentation of the valentine as far as it can go.
