Tom Ralston is a third generation concrete contractor out of Santa Cruz, California. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California Santa Cruz and has been running Tom Ralston Concrete since 1989 with 4 divisions including Structural, Decorative, Masonry, and Specialty Concrete. Tom owns a product company named Pacific Palette Concrete Products and also started The Lumi Lumi Company that sells revolutionary glow in the dark concrete products.
Tom? passion has been in decorative and specialty concrete as well as in business development including designing his own company database which helps him manage both potential projects and day to day field operations. His recognized expertise has allowed him the opportunity to share his knowledge through both seminars and hands on training since 1995. Tom has spoken at the World of Concrete on many occasions presenting acid staining, concrete countertops, decorative concrete basics, and marketing and development seminars. He has been a guest speaker for Chico State for their Concrete Industry Management Department.
Ralston? company has won 7 National Awards including the 2012 ?est of Show?for the Ruppel Hillside Project in Saratoga, California. Tom Ralston Concrete has appeared in numerous Architectural, Trade and Design Publications including Architectural Digest, Interior Design, Sunset Magazine, Concrete D?or Magazine, Concrete International, Concrete Construction, Journal of Light Construction, Concrete Concepts, California Home and Design as well as various newspapers where articles have been written about Tom and his Company.
Ralston serves on the Advisory Committee for Construction Education at Cabrillo College in Santa Cruz, California and has served on the Board of Directors for the Decorative Concrete Council. Tom was inducted into the Decorative Concrete Hall of Fame in Nashville, Tennessee in May of 2011.
Tom? first book ?ast-In-Place Concrete Countertops?was published by Schiffer Publishing in 2008. Again, in 2014, Tom will publish ?culpting Hillsides with Decorative Concrete?with Schiffer Publishing. In his usual fashion, Tom offers pearls of wisdom for contractors and designers alike who wish to emulate his success.
