A native of the cotton-ginning town of Oak Grove, Louisiana, and a lifelong philatelist, David Cobb Craig became enchanted with postage when in the 1960s and ’70s he saw pictures of about-to-come-out stamps posted on the bulletin board at his small local post office (71263)—but was invariably disappointed when it never, ever had those stamps for sale. In frustration he eventually moved to New York City, where he miraculously landed a reporting job at Life magazine (10020) and then in the Hollywood bureau of People (90024). Since 2013 he has worked at Food Network Magazine (10019). Besides stamps, David also collects bookmarks, postcards of midcentury malls, and advertising lenticulars—small things that don’t take up much room in his apartment on Manhattan’s Upper West Side (10024).
