Raised in Cleveland, Ohio, David Skernick received a bachelor’s degree in photography in 1977 and moved to California soon after. In 1981 he founded PHOTO24 to bring together his generation of fine-art photographers to sell nature photographs to corporations and institutions, arguing that everyone is better off with a little more nature. David’s goal in life is to drive and photograph every road in the United States. Recent shows include the LA Photo Show and Photo LA 2015 and 2016, and Photo Independent 2015. His book Lost on Gray Roads was released along with a showing at the ArtLA gallery in Bergamot Station in Los Angeles in 2013. Previous books in this series include Back Roads of the Great Plains, Back Roads of the Southwest, Back Roads of Northern California, Back Roads of Southern California, and Back Roads of the Pacific Northwest.
