Monika Kanti has studied weaving techniques for more than a quarter of a century. She traveled the world learning weaving and its relationship to the societies she visited. Monika then served as an apprentice to weaving expert Therese Leutwyler. In 2003, she set up her own workshop in Bern, Switzerland, where she began researching techniques from outside Europe, producing European-style basketry handicrafts, repairing workpieces, designing new ones, exhibiting, teaching, and drinking tea. She created countless basket objects from natural materials, mats made of paper, woven rag rugs, and works for exhibitions and competitions, as well as materials for her weaving courses.
