Life is made of language. While humans may think of language as exclusively verbal, nature speaks through the intersection of bodies and the stories they have to tell. The conversations of wind and grass, sun dappled water, and chirping birds continuously create the world through sound, movement, and texture. This flow of nonhuman communication asks us to be where we are, in the body we’re in. You are interfacing with the world in every moment, even if it’s just the exchange between your body and the couch, your lungs and the air.

Learning the language of tarot is stepping into conversation with the universe. While the cards speak through art and symbolism, communicating with tarot will require learning the language of your own spirit. What do swords and pentacles represent for you? Do any flora and fauna hold a special significance in your life? Uncovering your personal symbol system will enrich your ability to engage in this never-ending dialogue between your body and environment.

I created The Animystic Tarot to be your magical collaborator, a being here to celebrate the living world and your connection within it. Each card is an invitation back into kinship with the enchantment already present in your life. To begin a dialogue with the universe, all you need to do is pick up your deck and ask a question.

The world is brimming with life and spirit, waiting to speak through the cards. But reading tarot is not a one-sided conversation; after the cards have been drawn, it is up to you to integrate the information you’ve been given into your life. Transformative tarot readings don’t end when you place the cards back in their box—action, or contemplation, will carry the conversation into reality.

When you ask, the universe responds. Your body and spirit are fluent in this nonverbal language of the senses, the very same language the cards speak. The Animystic Tarot is your invitation back into conversation with the network of relationships your life is woven into.
